Johan, who earned his Master of Science in Accountancy from Brooklyn College, is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and licensed IRS Enrolled Agent. He has been awarded membership by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of CPA’s (NYSSCPA), and is a Xero Certified Advisor and QuickBooks Pro-advisor.

Before establishing Johan Tax & Accounting, Johan had a more than 15 years of cross-broad professional experience in the accounting field, including small business accounting, tax services for individuals and small businesses, audit experience in 2 of the Big 4 accounting firms (Ernst & Young, LLP and PricewaterhouseCooper, LLP), and part-time controllers or CFO in several NYC small businesses. He was equipped with strong diverse technical qualifications and an extensive background in business, tax, accounting, and auditing.

Johan formed Johan Tax & Accounting was mainly due to his passion with small businesses. He feels the pain of numerous small or mid-size business owners, who might not have as much resources as big companies to engage professionals for all key areas in their businesses. Johan utilizes his audit skills and accounting knowledge to help clients identify and evaluate compliance issues and operational weaknesses. With his expertise in small business accounting, Johan provides professional advice on cost efficient accounting procedures and policies. In terms of taxes, his cross-broad experience is even better by evaluating and optimizing his clients’ tax situations as a whole. Currently, Johan leads a team of CPAs and accounting professionals in the Manhattan, NY location for serving small businesses and individuals throughout 50 states within the USA.

Ivan Li, one of the partners of Johan Tax & Accounting LLC, is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. He is specialized in business and individual taxes, small business accounting, and nonprofit accounting. Before joining Johan Tax & Accounting LLC, he had 3 years of tax services in New York, NY by leading an IRS authorized tax preparation site, and spent more than 10 years in serving small businesses.

He is currently leading our New York office by providing tax preparation & planning, daily bookkeeping, financial reporting, budget management, financial analysis, internal control management, and so forth.
